Are you a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Nurse ready to step into one of the most dynamic, rewarding roles in acute mental health care?
At the frontline of mental health response, our Emergency Department Mental Health Triage (ED MHT) team plays a critical role in supporting individuals at their most vulnerable. We’re looking for a calm, capable, and collaborative Registered Nurse who’s passionate about making a real impact one assessment, one intervention, one life at a time.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

All NSW Health workers are required to comply with the Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy Directive (PD2024_015). This includes:
Category A positions: Mandatory evidence of protection against specified infectious diseases, including annual influenza vaccination and tuberculosis assessment.
Applicants must provide appropriate evidence of compliance prior to commencement. For detailed information, please refer to the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Policy.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the ED MHT RN, you will:

  • Provide expert mental health assessments and crisis interventions for patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including Clinical Nurse Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, ED staff and Psychiatric Registrars.
  • Collaborate with community and inpatient mental health teams to ensure safe, timely, and person-centred care planning.
  • Support the ED with de-escalation strategies, risk assessments, and coordination of care for patients with complex mental health needs.

This is a fast-paced, high-stakes role that requires clinical confidence, strong communication, and a calm presence but the reward is huge: helping people in crisis receive the care and dignity they deserve.
