Description Reports to Directing Attorney FLSA Status Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Union position 6 month contract Application Deadline Until Filled Salary $20.22 to $32.79 per hour PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Central California Legal Services (CCLS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 1966 for the purpose of providing free civil legal services to low-income individuals. CCLS core counties include Fresno, Kings, Mariposa, Merced, Tulare, and Tuolumne. CCLS’s health work also extends to San Luis Obispo, Monterey, San Benito, and Stanislaus counties. In Madera County, CCLS provides limited services to seniors and on health issues. CCLS has offices in Fresno, Merced, and Visalia, and satellite offices in Mendota and Los Banos. With nearly one hundred (100) employees, CCLS’s work includes direct services that meet our clients’ immediate needs, education, and advocacy. JOB DESCRIPTION The CCLS Foreclosure Prevention Project (FPP) assists low-income homeowners with foreclosure prevention legal education, pro bono clinics, and resources from community partners, addressing mortgage defaults and provides solutions preventing foreclosure. CCLS utilizes staff and volunteer attorneys for legal advice and pro bono representation, in addition to other project services. The Project focuses on homeowners that have been negatively impacted by recent unprecedented flooding, causing increased unemployment, and devastating local economies. Requirements DUTIES Identify and educate community groups, government agencies, and other organizations that serve the FPP target populations about FPP services; Identify communications channels that are significant sources of information for the populations FPP serves and provide content regularly regarding FPP services; In collaboration with other CCLS outreach and communications staff, develop and disseminate regularly FPP “client-focused” materials, including brochures and clinic flyers and similar materials, in print and electronic formats, through internal and external channels; Identify community events, school and church activities, employment and service fairs, and similar events where FPP can participate to conduct presentations or clinics to attendees; Plan and coordinate outreach and clinic events; Perform all duties throughout CCLS service areas; Represent CCLS on relevant committees, task forces, and working groups in the community; Assist with data collection, reporting, and compliance measures; Travel to meetings and events in counties served by CCLS as needed; and Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS High School or GED equivalent Public Service experience, non-profit environment experience a plus; Entrepreneurial spirit, self-starter, goal-oriented, and highly organized; Demonstrated success in event planning, outreach, or campaigns; Strong relationship skills; internal and external stakeholders at all levels Ability to conduct research and identify community groups and opportunities appropriate to the project; Excellent communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills; Experience utilizing a variety of communication channels; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently; Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners at all levels; Able to work with clients who are under multiple stressors; to respond to them with empathy and understanding; and to advocate for them; Experience with and enjoyment of working with people from a wide range of economic spheres, cultures, languages, abilities, and geographic areas; Passion for serving veterans; Ability to travel with proper vehicle insurance; Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed; Ability to be punctual and reliable in keeping work commitments; Deep knowledge of communities within the CCLS service area is a plus; and Bilingual ability is a plus (English/Spanish or English/Hmong).

Responsibilities

The Outreach Worker will identify and educate community groups about foreclosure prevention services and coordinate outreach events. They will also represent the organization on committees and assist with data collection and compliance reporting.
