JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled CCTV Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV systems. This role requires a strong understanding of low voltage systems, the ability to read blueprints and schematics, and proficiency with both hand and power tools. The CCTV Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and functionality of surveillance systems for our clients.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience installing and servicing CCTV or IP-camera systems.
  • Strong understanding of video compression (H.264/H.265), PoE networking and basic IT configuration.
  • Comfortable working at heights (using ladders or lifts) and in confined spaces (attics/crawlspaces).
  • Valid Ontario G-Class driver’s license and reliable vehicle for daily travel.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer-service orientation with clear verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, site-plan drawings and technical manuals.
  • Comfortable using tablets/smartphones for diagnostics, reporting and client demos.
  • Post-secondary diploma or certification in Electronics, Security Systems or a related field is an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Perform site surveys to determine optimal camera placement and identify wiring or mounting requirements.
  • Install and configure CCTV cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), power supplies and accessories.
  • Run network cables (Cat5e/6), set up PoE switches, and configure routers or Wi-Fi bridges as needed.
  • Test and commission systems to verify video quality, recording schedules and remote-viewing functionality.
  • Troubleshoot on-site and remotely via mobile-app or network diagnostics; replace or repair faulty hardware.
  • Advise clients on system operation, mobile-app use and preventive maintenance best practices.
  • Complete accurate service reports, time sheets and inventory logs after each job.
  • Ensure compliance with all municipal permit requirements and company safety policies.
