CDL Class A Driver – Heavy Equipment & Rail Response Location: Minneapolis, MN Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Starting Pay: From $26.00/hour (higher rates available based on experience) Position Overview We are seeking experienced CDL Class A Drivers to support specialized field operations, including emergency rail response, equipment transport, and site support. This role combines driving, equipment operation, and hands-on fieldwork in a fast-paced, on-call environment. \n Schedule & Compensation Guaranteed 40 hours per week Average 60+ hours/week with overtime On-call 24/7 for emergency response (including nights, weekends, and holidays) Overtime (time and a half) paid outside standard hours (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM) Additional compensation includes per diem, hotel coverage for travel, and layover pay Key Responsibilities Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment in compliance with DOT regulations Operate tractor-trailers to transport equipment and materials to and from job sites Verify load security, permits, and specifications for oversized or overweight equipment Participate in daily safety meetings and work planning discussions Load, unload, and stage materials and equipment for field operations Support rail-related work including rerailing, load transfer, and track repair or construction Assist with setup, inspection, and operation of cranes and heavy equipment Operate machinery such as cranes, excavators, backhoes, dump trucks, and grapple trucks (if qualified) Perform rigging activities using chains, cables, and winches Use hydraulic tools, welding equipment, torches, electrical tools, and hand tools as needed Monitor equipment performance and report mechanical concerns Complete minor maintenance and service tasks; escalate complex repairs as needed Assist with disassembly, loading, and cleanup after job completion Restock tools and materials in preparation for future assignments Maintain clean, organized vehicles, equipment, and work areas Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times Required Qualifications Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record Experience in construction labor or similar hands-on, physically demanding work Ability to pass required training, safety, and qualification programs Willingness to be on-call and respond to emergency situations at any time Preferred Experience 3+ years operating heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, front-end loaders, grapple trucks, skid steers, or similar machinery Experience working with rail equipment or in construction/industrial environments Pre-Employment Requirements Pre-Employment drug screen Background check Benefits: Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off \n
