CDL Tractor-Trailer Driver Class A The Tractor-Trailer Driver will safely and efficiently deliver materials from one location to another and to customers in a timely and professional manner.   Duties/Responsibilities: • Understand PMI Pipe Steel & Supplies mission statement • Drive vehicles with a Gross Combine Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs. or more if the GVWR of the vehicle(s) towed exceeds 10,000 pounds • Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws. • Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required route, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations. • Ensure trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to tractor unit • Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals. • Assists with loading of or loads and unloads goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area. • Position blocks and tie ropes/straps around items to secure cargo for transport. • Collect and verify delivery instructions • Communicate with branch manager, sales, and warehouse manager as needed • Complete logs for inventory, vehicles or deliveries as required • Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to the start of your day and the end of your day • Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to shipping office or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete. • Communicates with SEFF Coordinator (Safety, Equipment, Fleet & Facility Coordinator) for routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and tire air pressure. • Report maintenance defects/malfunctions, accidents, or violations immediately to SEFF Coordinator. • Track and report working hours on FleetMatics tablet • Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns. • Adhere to company rules and regulations • Comply with DOT regulations • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions • Always make safety a priority • Performs other related duties as assigned.   Required Skills/Abilities: • Must be 25 years of age for insurance purposes to operate equipment • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points. • Ability to remain focused in busy environment. • Able to always remain professional and courteous. Education and Experience: • Must hold required valid CDL (commercial driver license). • Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations. • Clean driving record with no moving violations • Experience operating warehouse equipment   Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab for long periods of time. • Must be able to lift and move up to 80 pounds. • Must be able to travel frequently. • Good organizational and time management skills • Ability to squat, twist, reach and stand/walk for an entire workday • Ability to work in Texas weather i.e., heat, cold, dust, rain   Benefits: * Health Insurance: Medical, Dental, and Vision * 401(k) * Life insurance * HSA Plan (select medical plans) * Long Term & Short Term Disability * Paid time off(PTO)  After 90 days   Schedule: * Day shift * Monday to Friday     NOTE: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work performed by the CDL Class A Drivers.
