JOB DESCRIPTION Job Purpose: Provides quality shipping services by picking up and delivering products in a timely manner while safely operating a company vehicle. Works under general supervision. Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Prepares shipments by assembling, packing, protecting, and labeling containers. 2. Determines method of shipment by examining items to be shipped, destination, route, rate, and time of shipment; and obtaining freight quotes. 3. Documents items shipped by recording identifying information of items and transport details. 4. Tracks shipments by verifying and documenting shipped items. 5. Transfers orders received by routing or delivering items to requesting departments. 6. Communicates with coworkers and customers regarding shipments. 7. Provides customer service by researching and answering questions on a timely basis. 8. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. 9. Contributes to team effort by actively participating in team meetings. Additional Responsibilities as needed. 1. Provides assistance to coworkers and other departments. Qualifications and Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of one year shipping/receiving or other related experience generally required. 2. Have a valid Class A CDL driver’s license in Kansas. 3. Have a driving record in good standing, free of any major violations. 4. Ability to read maps and follow directions. 5. Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, coworkers and management. 6. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. 7. Ability to use hoist and forklift. 8. Ability to use department equipment such as weight scales.
