Description At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields. We are currently seeking a local Heavy Haul CDL Driver to join our team in Nashville, TN. This role is primarily responsible for safely operating a low-boy trailer to transport heavy and oversized equipment between job sites, yard locations, and batch plants. The ideal candidate has heavy haul experience and takes pride in safe, precise equipment movement. This is a local position, not OTR. When heavy haul work is not required, the driver will support operations by operating additional equipment such as water trucks, vacuum trucks, dump trucks, and other construction equipment as needed. What You'll Do: Safely operate a low-boy trailer to transport construction equipment Move equipment between job sites, yard locations, and batch plant areas Perform secure loading, unloading, and proper load tie-down procedures Operate water trucks, vac trucks, dump trucks, and other equipment when needed Assist with basic field support tasks to keep operations moving Perform daily vehicle inspections and routine maintenance checks Coordinate with supervisors and field teams to ensure efficient equipment flow Follow all DOT regulations and company safety procedures Requirements What We Look For: Heavy haul / low-boy trailer experience Manual transmission experience Proven experience with load securement (chains, binders, blocking/bracing) in compliance with DOT standards Strong focus on safety, precision, and equipment care Ability to work in a fast-paced, field-based environment Previous experience contributing to a concrete paving crew at airfields or airports (preferred). Additional Requirements: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A) Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases). Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces. If applicable, indicate union affiliation in your application.
