Description Classification Non-Exempt Salary Grade/Level/Family/Range Level III/Logistics/ $24.44 – $28.46 per hour Level II/Logistics/ $26.44 – $28.45 per hour Level I/Logistics/ $28.46 – $32.45 per hour Reports to Operations Manager Date Revision Date March 11, 2021 March 19,2025 CDL CLASS A DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective: The Local CDL Class A Driver position performs a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating transportation plans in support of the Logistics Department within the local service area. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle. Plan routes to ensure the most economical use of time and equipment. Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs. Pick up and safely transport goods to intended destinations. Ensure contents are properly secured to prevent damage or injury. Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries. Assist in mapping driving routes. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; report defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment. Stay on predetermined routes and ensure timely transport and delivery. Perform all duties in conformance to safety and security standards. Communicate with dispatch as needed. Confirm that shipment contents match the manifest. Check weather and road conditions prior to departure. Maintain cleanliness of vehicles at all times. Maintain and service vehicle (fuel, oil, tire pressure, etc.). Notify management of maintenance or delivery issues. Follow delivery schedules and required rest periods. Maintain accurate driving and delivery logs. Track and report working hours. Adhere to company policies and procedures. Obey all traffic laws and operate safely based on conditions. Comply with ICC and DOT regulations. Always prioritize safety. Operate a forklift (Class I–VII) to move materials as needed. Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outdoor weather conditions and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration. Noise levels range from quiet (office) to moderately loud (field). Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and focus adjustment. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Full-time position. Hours vary depending on workload and delivery schedules. Travel Local travel required within designated service areas. Requirements Required Education and Experience High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid CDL Class A License. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Clean driving record. Skilled in operating large, heavy vehicles. Must pass DOT drug tests and physical examinations. Must pass the company driver’s test. Physically and mentally fit with strong stamina. Strong navigation and route planning skills. Ability to work independently. Must be able to obtain forklift certification (Class I–VII). Work Authorization/Security Clearance Must be authorized to work in the United States.
