Position Overview As a CDL Shuttle Operator, you’ll play an important role in delivering safe and reliable transportation for passengers on the Southern Methodist University campus, year-round. You’ll operate assigned shuttle vehicles, follow established routes and schedules, and ensure every rider receives a positive shuttle experience. This role offers consistent routes, shuttle stops, and schedule, with a unique opportunity to interact with a variety of students, faculty, staff, and public riders. Benefits $21.00/hour PTO Accrual Medical, Dental and Vision is available after 60 days for full time employees (30 hours/week) 401(k) is available after first six months of employment and 1000 hours worked Uniform provided Paid training for ADA Lift and Shuttle Technology Opportunities for advancement Shifts Available Variety of daytime & evening shifts (1st & 2nd shift) Weekdays & Saturdays Responsibilities Safely operate shuttle vehicles according to scheduled routes and timetables. Ensure safe and courteous loading and unloading of passengers, including those with mobility needs. Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company procedures. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition. Promptly report maintenance concerns or vehicle issues to the Shuttle Supervisor. Maintain on-time route performance and communicate any delays or route changes as needed. Provide professional, courteous service to all passengers and assist as needed during boarding and disembarking. Respond to passenger questions, concerns, or complaints with patience and professionalism. Keep accurate daily records of passenger counts, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents. Maintain a clean, fueled, and well-kept shuttle vehicle. Complete all required daily reports and logs. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements 21 years of age or older Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement of 26 passengers or more (required), Responsible driving record DOT Medical Examiner's Health Card required (company will provide for qualified applicants) Ability to operate lift accessible vehicles High School diploma or equivalent High standard of integrity Experience delivering quality service in customer/public environment Displays a positive attitude, flexibility, initiative and ability to communicate effectively Interpersonal Skills: Remains open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things Able to read, write, comprehend, and converse in the English language Previous driving experience a plus
