Description Role Overview: The CDL Truck Driver position is responsible for transporting deliveries locally in accordance with company guidelines and DOT regulations, providing positive Customer Service and maintaining accurate recordkeeping by performing the following duties. These duties may vary to include some or all the following job responsibilities. Duties/Responsibilities: Transports deliveries locally and/or over long distances according to manifest in a safe, responsible manner and in accordance with company procedures and applicable DOT regulations. Coordinates efficient deliveries by applying knowledge of customer schedules, peak delivery times and alternate routes. Applies knowledge and abilities to safely load and unload deliveries according to size of load and content description. Processes shipment documents neatly and efficiently for each shipment and manages discrepancy documentation. Obtains and maintains proper delivery authorization and pickup documentation and submits in a timely manner. Provides good customer service and maintains a professional appearance to enhance the company's image. Performs a daily DOT pre-trip inspection according to checklist and keeps an accurate copy in the vehicle at all times. Maintains a daily, legible DOT logbook and submits as needed. May be required to “tail gate” a load with a manual pallet jack, if needed. This includes pushing / pulling or turning skidded tire / wheel pallets with weights from 300 lbs. – 1500 lbs. per skid up to 15 times, per delivery rear of trailer. Balances and handles an expense account for each trip by recording all expenses and maintaining all receipts. Provides basic maintenance for vehicles such as performing minor repairs and maintaining a neat vehicle. Maintains company gas credit cards, and valid/current proof of insurance and registration in vehicle. Ensures proper maintenance of vehicle and reports all accidents/damage/malfunctions to management. Promotes self-improvement in all areas, including safety, cleanliness, and assigned tasks of the position. Performs other related duties as assigned. Key Performance Indicators Delivery Accuracy of 98%. Drivers are expected to follow load out plan and deliver to each customer per the delivery paperwork. Maintain safe driving record with no more than one citation per year. Protect all company assets including cab and trailers from damage. Requirements Required Education/Experience and Skills: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred. Valid Class A CDL Driver’s License - must meet insurance underwriting requirements. Possess a valid Medical Certification. Prior DOT driving experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of tire and wheel industry is desirable. Must have an excellent driving record and adhere to DOT regulations. Excellent customer service and time management skills, and ability to prioritize and organize efficiently. Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Regularly required to sit and occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to open doors and get inside the trailer from the ground, approximately 5 feet in height. Must be able to frequently use hands and talk or hear. Must be able to lift and move up to 50-75 pounds at times. Must pass a road test administered by a senior driver of Tredit Tire, demonstrating competence and safety.
