CEI Senior Inspector - South Florida (Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Areas) Position Overview KEITH is seeking an experienced CEI Senior Inspector to support transportation infrastructure projects in South Florida (Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Areas). This is a key field role responsible for overseeing complex roadway and bridge construction activities, ensuring contractor compliance, performing technical field tests, and guiding junior inspection staff. You will work under the general direction of the Project Engineer/Administrator and serve as one of the lead representatives of the CEI team in the field. This role is ideal for a motivated inspector who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrates sound judgment, and is ready to play a vital part in delivering high‑quality FDOT construction projects. Key Responsibilities Lead daily inspection activities for FDOT roadway and bridge construction projects (excluding CC2 bridge structures). Perform and verify field surveying, construction layout, and checking engineering computations. Conduct field tests and verify compliance with FDOT Standard Specifications, Standard Plans, and project-specific requirements. Document daily construction activities (PrC), prepare detailed reports (e.g. VT reports), pay items tracking, and track contractor progress. Identify and resolve field discrepancies in coordination with contractors, engineers, and CEI leadership. Review plans, shop drawings, work orders, and revisions for constructability and compliance. Mentor and oversee junior inspectors, providing technical guidance and quality oversight. Support Final Estimates documentation and close‑out processes as required. Preferred Certifications (Highly Competitive Candidates Will Have): IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection CTQP Asphalt Paving Level I & II CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I & II CTQP Final Estimates Level II FDOT Advanced Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Nuclear Radiation Safety Florida Stormwater, Erosion, & Sedimentation Control Inspector Certification What You’ll Need to Succeed: High school diploma or equivalent (BS in Civil Engineering/Technology preferred but not required). Minimum 5 years of construction inspection experience, with 4 years focused on FDOT roadway and/or bridge projects. Strong working knowledge of FDOT specifications, standard plans, procedures, and documentation requirements. Proficiency in field testing, materials verification, and CEI documentation workflows (e.g., PrC, MAC). Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills working with contractors and engineers to resolve field-related issues.
