WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO ALTOS

An exciting 18 month defined term contract opportunity is available for a Scientist to join the Franklin Lab, at Altos’ Cambridge Institute of Science (Cambridge, UK). We are seeking a very highly motivated, creative, and collaborative individual who is passionate and dedicated about employing their expertise to unravel the deep biology of cell health and resilience. The particular focus of the lab is in understanding the nature of adult stem cells ageing and how it can be reversed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a Scientist I / II to join our Lab.

Qualified applicants will have a PhD in life sciences, with independent ability to formulate scientific questions, design experimental strategies and implement the plans effectively. In addition, the candidates will have strong training in most of the following fields/areas of expertise:

  • Molecular and cell biology: prior expertise in ageing biology
  • Mastery of advanced molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with functional screening platforms - small molecules, CRISPR/Cas, RNAi, etc
  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture (including primary cells)
  • Experience with gene delivery systems, including retrovirus, lentivirus and AAVs
  • Knowledge and strong interest in studying age-related molecular changes.
  • A strong sense of collective ownership of projects within the group and Altos.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition, we seek are looking for Scientists who can demonstrate:

  • Critical and creative thinking with an ability to formulate scientific questions, design strategies, and implement the plans effectively
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • A demonstrated high productivity and ability to complete work in a timely manner
  • Problem-solving skills to identify potential issues, test, and develop innovative solutions
  • Excellent writing and communication skills

The salary range for Cambridge, UK:

  • Scientist I, Biological Sciences £49,300 - £70,000
  • Scientist II, Biological Sciences: £58,000 - £87,500

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
