BrainXell is a growing biotechnology company that provides high-purity, iPSC-derived human neurons, astrocytes, and microglia for translational research and drug discovery. Utilizing proprietary technology, we generate a variety of assay-ready, subtype-specific cells of the CNS, relevant to a range of neurological disorders. POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cell Culture Scientist IV to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the production and optimization of iPSC-derived cell lines, contributing to the advancement of our research and product development. Your expertise in cell culture techniques will support our mission to provide high-quality cells for use in translational research and drug discovery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cell Biology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline and 4+ experience or,
  • Relevant Certificate and 5+ years’ experience or,

  • 6+ years’ industry experience

  • Proven experience with iPSC maintenance and differentiation, neural differentiation preferred

  • Proficiency in flow cytometry, qPCR, ICC, and sequencing or,

  • At least 1 year of relevant assay experience

  • Proficiency in or experience with:

  • Aseptic technique

  • Scientific documentation
  • Data analysis

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information (e.g., complex phenotypes, functional assays, reproducibility, and experimental results).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Independently plan and manage time to meet production schedule
  • Demonstrate effective mentorship for less experienced team members
  • Ability to perform occasional weekend work, as required.

Responsibilities
  • Optimize and maintain cell culture protocols for various CNS cell types, including neurons, astrocytes, and microglia.
  • Lead iPSC onboarding and culture efforts, including both feeder-free and feeder-dependent systems.
  • Generate and validate high-purity iPSC-derived cell lines from unique iPSC sources.
  • Perform reprogramming and transfection techniques to support iPSC line development and downstream differentiation.
  • Conduct experiments to assess cell viability, differentiation, and functional characteristics.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and execute research projects aligned with organizational goals.
  • Analyze data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards, maintaining thorough and accurate documentation.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends and contribute to the development and implementation of innovative methodologies.
