The Role:
We are currently recruiting for a detail orientated, career driven, team player who is self-motivated and goal focused to fill the position of Cellar Hand based out of our production site in Oliver, BC.
Arterra Wines Canadas’ Jackson-Triggs winery is a full-service operation from harvest through to final distribution; operating year round and producing some of the industry’s most awarded wines. As a whole, our organization emphasizes a collaborative working environment, offering the systems and structure to support our continued growth and employment opportunities.
As a Cellar Hand you will work closely with our Winemaking team in the creation of our award winning wines. Our cellars operate as two divisions, VQA and ICB; by dividing these functions we are able to offer our Cellar Hands a broad scope and cross training potential on the entire wine and refreshment making process from small to large batch production.
Key Responsibilities:
Your key responsibilities and duties are as follows:
- Grape processing: Grape and juice reception, de-stemming, crushing, and pressing.
- Fermentation management: Inoculations, nutrient additions, sampling, pump overs, punch downs, sugar monitoring, and digging out of fermenters.
- Cellar work: Barrel work, racking, product transfers, product blending, and product additions.
- Cellar sanitation: Tank & barrel cleaning, and general cleaning of facility and winery equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures as directed by standard operating procedures.
- Work order completion and compliance.
- Safe operation of cellar forklift and other winery equipment (training provided).
- Inventory control.
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of safe cellar practices, including safe handling of chemicals.
- Strong commitment to quality with attention to detail.
- Candidate must be hands on, dependable, and self-starting.
- Good problem-solving abilities along with basic logistic skills required.
- Ability to be trained in confined space entry process and procedures.
- Knowledge of winery cellar operating procedures.
- Teamwork and customer service skills.
- Ability to work shift work including weekends.
- Ability to understand and perform mathematic calculations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain an organized work place.
- Ability to lift 55 lbs.
COMPENSATION: $22.16/hr - $28.68/hr
