EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES YOU WILL NEED:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in cement manufacturing.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience and knowledge of process control systems (ESC).
  • CRL certification, or 5 years of experience to cover CRL’s/CROs as needed.
  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a control room operator.
  • Strong MSHA industrial safety experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize computer software in monitoring and tracking data preferred.
  • Budgetary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for managing and directing the safety, more direct interaction with CRL/CRO operation of the Production Department to achieve the highest quality cement to meet customer requirements and needs while maintaining an efficient, productive, and safe plant. Partners and coordinates with all departments within the plant to achieve production and plant goals and objectives.

  • Safety is a prime consideration in this position. Employees must wear proper PPE and follow appropriate safety procedures in all areas where duties are performed.
  • Manages efficiency, throughput, and quality of kiln operation to achieve and maintain budgeted cost per ton.
  • Partners with lab staff to set up the grinding schedule to achieve targeted volumes and meet time constraints based on the specific types of material and grinds.
  • Creates monthly budgetary numbers to determine the schedule necessary to achieve the targeted goals related to the kilns and mills.
  • Executes effective schedule for mill and kiln operation using monthly inventory budget numbers, goals for efficient use of power, demand for different types of cement, and quality requirements for all product types.
  • Supports successful operation of the plant by coordinating effective downtime and minimizing unplanned down time. Uses prior years’ experience and information on possible failures to equipment.
  • Ensures all other required training such as Loyalist, Code of Ethics, Smoke Training, Cardox, Task training, First Aid, Storm Water and Opacity training are completed. New miners, experienced miners and MSHA part 46 trainings.
  • Collaborate with Quarry, Lab and Maintenance to schedule mill availability and materials required for the operation. Communicates with these departments for needed changes to set product targets and works with them to determine necessary changes to achieve those needs.
  • Participates and is an active member of the Continuous Improvement Plant Staff meetings and encourages and supports 5S and High Impact Ideas.
  • Participates in the Cement Sustainability Initiative as part of the Innovative Process sub-committee.
  • Frequently communicates with off shifts about projects and concerns that are necessary for them to function safely, productively, and efficiently.
  • Ability to organize and effectively and clearly communicate assigned tasks to ensure of the workforce.
