Description Head Start is a federally funded preschool program delivering services to 3 and 4-year old children and their families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being. The Center director is responsible for the overall operation of the centers' early childhood program(s) in accordance with Agency policy. This includes the supervision of the physical facility, bus transportation, and all center staff. Responsible for identification of children and families in need of educational and social services and implementing program activities to meet the needs. Insures parent involvement in the formulation and implementation of Head Start Center activities. Job Responsibilities: · Maintains the physical facility in compliance with local, state and federal standards for health & safety. · Coordinates the transportation of children with contracted bus services. · Oversees the procedure of submitting time sheets, expense vouchers, purchase orders, volunteer records, U.S.D.A. reimbursement reports, children's attendance records, parent tuition payments and all related documentation. · Maintains the appropriate # of children enrolled in programs. · Maintain and control expenditures within budgetary limits. · Interview candidates for vacant positions and make recommendations to the Program Director. · Supervises all staff assigned to the center. · Insures the center's compliance with the health, nutrition, social service, parent involvement, educational and disability components of Head Start. · Plans center-level training for staff. · Provides appropriate school linkage services for all children and maintains communication with local school personnel and with other community agencies regarding children, family and program needs. · Assumes additional responsibilities as indicated by the Program Director or as the need arises in the center. · Cooperates with component coordinators and program administration staff in delivery of program services. · Participates in the conduct and analysis of the Community Needs Assessment. · Represents the Program on community committees in an advocacy role on behalf of the children and families of Dutchess County, as requested by the Program Director. · Acts as a member of the Management/Quality Assurance and Improvement Team in its work to review and discuss quality of program tasks. · Prepares monthly operational reports as directed by the Program Director. · Completes required home visits and family conferences. · Works collaboratively with families to create Family Partnership Agreements and Parent Gauge Interviews. · Facilitates parent workshops and Positive Solutions Curriculum. · Documents all contacts and PIR information in Child Plus. Requirements You must have: · Bachelor’s Degree. · Supervisory experience in an Early Childhood setting required. You should have: · Early Childhood Degree preferred.
