  CITY OF GREENBELT, MD CLASS SPECIFICATION CLASS TITLE: DEPARTMENT: Center Leader - Recreation Center Recreation SALARY GRADE: 1 FLSA STATUS: NE REPORTS TO: Recreation Coordinator or Supervisor DATE: 7/2026   Pay rate per hour: $15.30   JOB SUMMARY AND DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE WORK: Part-time position with major responsibility for monitoring Recreation Center. The Center Leader will provide information to visitors in response to inquiries about memberships and activities, in addition to assisting individuals interested in purchasing a membership. The Center Leader will receive, review and process membership applications. The Center Leader will also maintain basic facility cleanliness, perform administrative duties that include answering phones, directing visitors, monitoring facility rentals, visitor behavior, and executing skilled First Aid and CPR duties. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   Greet facility visitors, answer telephone, and provide facility, department, and City information to patrons. Monitor the facility, surrounding (outside) grounds, activities, meetings, and programs.   Monitor behavior of facility users and maintain building security, including securing building at closing.   Prepare facilities for special events and meetings, including moving, assembling, disassembling and maintaining audiovisual equipment and setting up, taking down and storing tables, chairs and other equipment.   Check IDs for required activities.   Check visitors in using RecTrac.   Represent the Greenbelt Recreation Department and the City of Greenbelt.   Complete necessary paperwork in a timely fashion, including accident and incident reports.   Attend mandatory scheduled staff meetings.   Keep assigned activity areas clean and safe.   Other duties as assigned by Coordinator or Supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education and Experience:   18 years or older and/or high school diploma.   DESIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:   CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Skill in: Punctuality and dependability mandatory.   MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds (specifically tables, chairs, and AV equipment). Ability to interact courteously with patrons and colleagues. Ability to enforce facility policies with confidence and assert oneself in challenging situations.   NOTE: This class specification should not be interpreted as all inclusive.
