Summary Physicians diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team. May focus on health promotion and disease prevention. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Performs annual evaluations on patients and ensure preventative procedures take place. 2. Diagnoses and treat illnesses or injuries. 3. Prescribes medications; and orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests. 4. Counsels patients on diet, hygiene, and preventive healthcare. 5. Implements a plan of treatment, including diagnostic studies results. 6. Determines final diagnosis. 7. Works with staff to ensure that the medical needs of the patients are met. 8. Ensures that the patient meets the medical admission criteria. 9. Participates in the Quality Assurance of the medical documentation. 10. Participates in the utilization review of the billing process. 11. Directly supervises the work of medical assistants and phlebotomists.  12. Keeps medical record documentation according to the State and Federal regulations and their guidelines. 13. Participates in preparation of super bills. 14. Performs duties in honest and ethical manner. 15. Perform other duties as assigned   Qualifications Education/Experience: 1. Must be licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida as an MD. 2. At least (5) years of experience as a licensed physician.       Skills: 1. Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. 2. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices. 3. Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. 4. Ability to work with individuals within and outside the organization, in professional and courteous manner. 5. Must develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others. 6. Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. 7. Strong ability to use independent judgment and initiative. 8. Organized and able to manage competing priorities. 9. Resourcefulness in problem solving.  10. Actively look for ways to help people. 11. Strong written and verbal communications skills 12. Knowledge of medical terminology 13. Must be extremely detail oriented. 14. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 15. Knowledge of EHR. 16. Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish or English/Creole). 17. Must develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.   Nature of Work 1. Duties require exercise of discretion in selecting from established alternatives to situations which arise on the job. Associate is expected to exercise discretion within an established range. Management should be consulted when established alternatives are not available. 2. Verbal and written communication skills are required to convey and explain factual information. Contacts are generally non-confrontational. Management is available in event of conflict. 3. May be required to perform duties and responsibilities not listed in this description, on a temporary or long-term basis.
