WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The COE – Center of Excellence - Process Leader is responsible for developing and improving processes for thermoplastic materials for new and existing applications. They are part of the global Advanced Manufacturing Team and will collaborate with the Technical Team and operations teams to ensure that these processes meet customer and industry specifications, are on time, and on budget.
The COE Process Leader coordinates with the technical team during the design phase to determine the optimal processing methods for new and current materials. They will evaluate new processing methods as well as optimize the methods currently in place in our production facilities. The COE Process Engineer will conduct initial trials as well as support the scale-up and commercialization of new products and processes at our sites.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Utilizes Polymer Process know-how on traditional and emerging technologies to select and develop new processes or adapt existing processes with clear volume and unit cost targets and ROI in mind.
  • Leverage material and process experts’ scientific knowledge on advanced Thermoplastic compounds
  • Establish benchmarks and perform regular techno watch and is up to date on new equipment and emerging technologies. Understand capabilities, advantages and limitations of processes and equipment.
  • Provides project leadership to associates and colleagues at the interface between Technical Team and Operations.
  • Develop Thermoplastic Process competency under the guidance of Technical Platform, Advanced Manufacturing and Operational Leaders.
  • May have managerial responsibilities of Technician, Process Engineers or Interns for execution of large-scale projects such as Must Win Battles or New Product Development.
  • Develops parameters for new processes and works with manufacturing engineering to optimize current ones.
  • Work closely with technical and quality teams to ensure products meet the required specifications.
  • Involved in technical evaluations of vendors and equipment.
  • Support Product Manager, commercial team and others with technical and economic recommendations for the implementation of new processes, methods, and equipment.
  • Runs experiments and tests to aid in the development of processing systems.
  • Collaborate with Process/Manufacturing Engineering in reviewing customer special requirements and generating appropriate processes and methods to successfully accommodate and implement in the manufacturing environment.
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree (Engineering Discipline) - Required
Masters Degree (Engineering Discipline) - Required

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

5+ Years experience in Manufacturing and/or Development environment in a technical role - Required
5+ Years experience in Thermoplastic material processing (IM, Extrusion, etc.) - Required
1+ Year experience in Project Management - Preferred
Experience with thermoplastic processing (IM, Extrusion, etc.) on a lab-scale and/or industrial-scale - Required
Understanding of WCM or Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) - Preferred - Preferred
