Description This position is responsible for supervising the operations and maintenance of the water distribution system. Oversees the installation, maintenance and repair of water mains, services, and other system components; coordinates daily work priorities Establishes schedules and methods the installation, maintenance, repair and monitoring of the water distribution system. Responds to customer complaints regarding water quality and pressure; coordinates mitigation and repair activities. Maintains an adequate inventory of parts, supplies, tools, and equipment to safely and efficiently perform work tasks in the water distribution system. Recommends and assists in the implementation of department goals and objectives. Participates in the selection of staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; disciplines personnel. Participates in budget preparations; monitors and controls expenditures. Reviews work order to ensure the accuracy of data and the satisfactory completion of work. Coordinates work with outside contractors. Reviews employee leave requests. Responds to after-hours emergencies. Performs related duties. Requirements Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a water distribution system. Knowledge of the operation of a variety of job-related tools and equipment. Knowledge of related state and federal regulations. Knowledge of budget development and management principles. Knowledge of relevant federal and state law and city policies and procedures. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in management and supervision. Skill in problem solving. Skill in prioritizing and planning. Skill in interpersonal relations. Skill in oral and written communication. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain an appropriate state-certified license for water or wastewater treatment or distribution as appropriate.
