Corewell Health is offering up to $3,000 as a sign on bonus for this opportunity! About the unit William Beaumont University Hospital is a Level I Trauma, Academic Medicine facility. The Central Processing Department (CPD) supports Surgical Services, as well as other departments by providing sterile instrumentation for surgical and other procedures. CPD Technicians maintain and sterilize a variety of instrumentation from surgical specialties such as Open Heart, Neurosurgery and Robotic procedures. The CPD Technician is the first point in care of the surgical patient by ensuring sterile instrumentation in good working order. As such, the CPD Technician must have knowledge of complex instrumentation and the industry standards, as well as staying abreast of everchanging technology of surgical instrumentation. Scope of work Responsible for inspecting, disinfecting, assembling, processing and distributing patient care instruments, equipment and supplies in accordance with established policies, procedures and Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards. Acts as a role model and resource to peers and other members of the health care team related to processing of equipment, instruments, and supplies. Stores, rotates and ensures all instruments and supplies are correctly labeled. 🛠️ Instrument Processing & Sterilization Cleans and inspects soiled instruments using proper PPE. Tests equipment with tools like insulation and leak testers to ensure sterilization. Assembles instruments per established standards and IFUs. ✅ Quality & Accuracy Strives for zero defects through thorough inspections. Maintains a low error rate and high productivity. 👥 Team Support & Communication Serves as a role model and resource for peers. Responds to phone requests and departmental issues professionally. 📦 Workflow & Prioritization Prioritizes processing based on surgical schedules and physician needs. Handles vendor trays and complex instrumentation efficiently. 🧠 Technical Proficiency Differentiates instrument functionality and specialties. Monitors sterilization equipment and submits repair requests as needed. Expertly assembles high-complexity trays like implants and ambulatory kits. 🤝 Customer Service Ensures timely, professional handling of all customer area requests.
