Description
The Central Services Supervisor will supervise all Central Services Technicians located in the Central Services department. Responsible for ordering all supplies used by Nursing Units. Insures that inventory control practices are instituted which insure against stock-outs, but prevents over ordering. Responsible for insuring that all chargeable supply items are charged to the correct patient and all nursing units are inventoried daily, using hand held computers, and that all information is down loaded into CDS computers. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent.  Experience:  Five years supervisory experience in Central Services, Sterile Processing, Purchasing, Central Distribution or other similar function required. Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Computer and related software, calculator, telephone, copier, fax machine.  Specialized Skills: Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to prioritize work. Ability to work with multiple priorities and interruptions. Good organizational skills. Intermediate to advance mathematical skills to include ratios, percentages, and spreadsheet analysis. Knowledge of windows based computer programs. Proven ability to lead and supervise a group of employees and form effective working relationships with employees, management and customers. Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions. Physical Requirements: 45 percent of time spent sitting, operating a computer, calculator or other administrative type duties. Manual dexterity necessary to operate computer and calculator. 20 percent of time spent standing, stooping, walking while accomplishing inventory prior to placing order for supplies. Good visual acuity to read small print such as, computer screens, manufacturer numbers, etc. Must be able to meet attendance requirements of job. Must be able to lift 45-pound boxes and have ability to push wheeled carts weighing up to 100 pounds (5 percent of time). 30 percent of time spent standing, walking, observing subordinates work, visiting nursing units, etc.
