UPMC Memorial is hiring a Full-Time Sterile Processing Technician! Join our dedicated team to ensure the safe and efficient reprocessing and distribution of sterile supplies across the hospital. This role is essential to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety. Start strong: Earn up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus when you join our team! Start strong: Earn up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus when you join our team! Responsibilities: Cleans and restocks CPR carts. Performs all duties according to department policies and procedures. Operates all departmental equipment and performs operator maintenance. Performs all assigned clerical duties, such as answering the telephone, recording of messages, and maintenance of records. Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and working order for the Operating Room, OB, and other departments. Maintains working knowledge of all products in stock and their appropriate locations. Prepares and assembles special items, trays, and packs to meet stated needs of all hospital departments. Prepares case carts for the Operating Room. Performs all duties related to decontamination, preparation, sterilization/disinfection, and dispatch of instruments, equipment and supplies for the Operating Room, OB, Cardiology, ED/Trauma, and Nursing and ancillary departments. Demonstrates working knowledge of sterilization techniques. High school Graduate/GEDOR1 year of experience with UPMC Six months of healthcare experience requiredCurrently enrolled in an Accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing Program Preferred. If grandfathered as a technician who does not hold certification, must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis. Certified staff are required to complete 10-12 hours of continuing education as a condition of maintaining certification, as determined by the certifying body. Staff pending certification within 18 months of hire are not required to complete continuing education until certified. Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Employees active in a Central Sterile position, on or before the effective date 12/27/2020, at a healthcare facility, are grandfathered regarding certification and will not need to obtain it unless they move into a different position that would require certification. Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association. Certification required in our PA and NY facilities (MD is excluded). New employees in our PA and NY facilities (MD is excluded) will have 18 months from date of hire to obtain required certification.
