Description Centralized Scheduler – Central Wide Scheduling – Full Time Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital, stand-alone, not-for-profit hospital located in Ste. What to expect as a Centralized Scheduler: Create a positive first impression of the organization using excellent telecommunication skills. Quickly and accurately direct callers to the appropriate department/person. Schedule patient appointments according to organization protocols and obtain the necessary information for new and established patients. Verify patient information for accurate scheduling Edit all necessary patient information for proper billing to ensure accuracy and timely submission to insurance carriers. Apply customer service skills to resolve patient inquires and concerns pertaining to their clinic/hospital appointments. Organize and prioritize work based on time needed to complete with minimum supervision. Exhibits good judgment as well as thorough knowledge of ethical and legal billing procedures. Stay informed of changes in scheduling procedures that affect processes and reimbursement effectiveness. Meet department goals. Welcome patients and visitors on the telephone, answers inquiries or refer questions to other staff members when needed. Conduct patient interviews in a confidential manner. Verify demographic and financial/insurance information with patient or patient’s representative, updating when necessary. Identify learning opportunities, seeks guidance in new or unfamiliar situations. Refer patients concerned about payment to Patient Accounts. Act as a resource person for staff, and clinical departments for questions and problems. Assist in the training and orientation of staff. Provide coverage for other CWS coworkers and works on an as-needed basis. Complete any project assigned by the CWS Manager to the best of his/her abilities. Skill requirements: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Ability to communicate effectively to patients, physician offices, departments, and staff to coordinate patient care and resolve scheduling conflicts. Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. Basic office skills such as keyboarding and filing Proficiency with computers/ Meditech, and scheduling software. Knowledge of medical terminology. Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Insurance, billing, and coding experience. Experience working in healthcare.
