We are a small, family owned and operated service currently looking for a chef/cook. This person must be able to approach the role in a calm and systematic manner in order to deliver food which is of the correct temperature, on time, nutritious & delicious. You must be energetic, enjoy working in a small team environment & working with children.
The chef is responsible for:
· Prepare and cook meals according to menu.
· Placing weekly food orders.
· Monitoring stock levels, stock rotation.
· Managing seasonal menu rotations
· Check Menu food against government guidelines for long day care using online Food Checker
· Maintaining kitchen practice in line with the Food Safety Program and Food Safety Regulations
· Having high standards for hygiene in all aspects of food handling, serving and storage.
· Being responsive to changes required in menu preparation to meet children’s dietary requirements and food allergies.
· Undertake all routine and specialised cleaning of cooking equipment and kitchen fixtures
· Liaising with food auditors for completion of regular food safety audits.
· Occasionally assisting with additional tasks such as general cleaning, setting up beds ect for the children
The candidate must have:
· Food Handling Certificate and a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Hours
· 25 hours pw (additional if applicant is also a qualified educator or enrolled in an approved early childhood course)
· Morning Shifts 8:30am-1:30pm
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
