ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Cumberland City Council proudly operates 13 Education and Care services across the community where our staff educate and care for children from birth to 13 years of age.
Across our long day care, out of school hours care and family day care services, our staff are passionate about empowering today’s children to become tomorrow’s future by teaching children to be respectful, resilient and confident in an environment that is accepting, safe and inspiring.
Council is looking for an Out of School Hours (OOSH) Centre Director to lead a professional Education and Care team. In contributing to the vision and mission for Education and Care, the primary focus of this visible leadership role is to lead the team to deliver a high quality children’s program to the community that is innovative, supports best practice, is driven by ongoing improvement and places children at the centre of decision making.
In 2025, we are also partnering with an external sports provider to provide a structured after school sports program within our OOSH program.

The successful applicant will require:

• Relevant qualifications in an education and care related discipline (or near completion), or equivalent experience in a similar role.
• Working with Children Check clearance
• Child Protection course approved by the NSW Regulatory Authority (s162A Education and Care Services National Law) (or willing to obtain)
• Completion of NSW Food Safety Supervisor training (or willing to obtain) • Class C driver’s licence

• A solid understanding of relevant trends and legislation in the education and care sector
• Proven skills and ability as a leader of a professional team, positive communication is paramount along with proven skills and ability in staff management and development
• Proficient knowledge and considerable understanding of computerised finance and education and care operating systems •
• Ability to provide support, assistance, timely and systematic advice on all aspects of operational requirements and policy direction
• Ability to take personal responsibility for behaving in accordance with the organisation’s values and directions

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

• 1x Permanent full-time position
• Working 70 hours per fortnight on a roster between 6:30am to 6:00pm.
• Access to Council’s 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
• Predominately located at Council’s Sherwood Grange OOSH, however may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

• Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,714.07 to $1,971.18 per week plus 11.5% superannuation
• The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
