Job Description Summary Position Summary The CEO for MUSC Health Orangeburg Medical Center serves as the senior-most administrative leader of the hospital, accountable for day-to-day operations, facility performance, and alignment with MUSC Health’s system strategy. Reporting to the CEO MUSC Health Charleston Division, the MUSC Health Orangeburg CEO ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care while advancing MUSC Health’s mission to preserve and optimize human life in South Carolina and beyond. This executive has direct responsibility for the performance of Orangeburg Medical Center, a 286-bed hospital with approximately 2,300 care team members. The CEO oversees inpatient and outpatient services, a free-standing emergency department, ambulatory surgery centers, and an ambulatory network including cancer care. The CEO will work collaboratively with the MUSC Health Integrated Centers of Clinical Excellence (ICCE) to support clinical program development, enhance quality, and ensure excellence in all aspects of care delivery to the community. They will work closely with the leadership of MUSC Physician Practices, College of Medicine leadership, and other health system leaders to fulfill the MUSC mission and long-term strategic plan. The CEO will also represent MUSC Health across the region, interacting effectively with board members, volunteers, community groups, patients, and care team members. The CEO is accountable for the hospital’s overall financial performance, operational efficiency, and market growth, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources while expanding access and patient volume. The CEO will be accountable to lead a senior leadership team that achieves and exceeds targets related to quality, safety, patient experience, and employee engagement, driving continuous improvement and excellence across all dimensions of performance. Additional Job Description Qualifications Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field required. Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership in complex, community hospital, academic, or integrated healthcare systems. Demonstrated success in executive leadership roles with accountability for P&L, strategic planning, and operational outcomes. Proven track record in community engagement, advancing equity and inclusion, and leading in underserved and diverse communities. CEO or CEO-ready healthcare executive experience strongly preferred.
