Description About Us: Shoshone Medical Center is a Rural Critical Access Hospital dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care to our community. We are seeking a visionary and mission-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the hospital in advancing healthcare delivery, operational excellence, and community engagement. The CEO will work closely with the Board of Directors, medical staff, and leadership team to ensure the hospital’s long-term success and sustainability. Position Summary: The CEO serves as the chief executive leader of Shoshone Medical Center, responsible for overall strategic direction, operational performance, financial stewardship, and community relationships. This role requires a strong, innovative leader who can balance the delivery of excellent patient care with fiscal responsibility and organizational growth. The CEO will foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Primary Responsibilities: Devote full business time and attention to providing leadership services to SMC. Use best efforts to further the interests of SMC and assist in accomplishing its mission as defined by the Board of Directors. Direct the affairs of SMC and any related facilities in a manner consistent with the supervision and instructions provided by the Board. Attend all Board meetings, appropriate staff meetings, community meetings, and other applicable hospital-related functions. Maintain regular communication with the Board to ensure they are advised of SMC operations and key issues. Comply with and enforce the policies and procedures of SMC. Ensure SMC property, personnel, and resources are used solely for organizational purposes. Comply with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations relevant to hospital operations, and ensure that SMC personnel do the same. Conduct oneself at all times in a professional manner that promotes cooperation, productivity, and respect among staff and within the community. Provide strategic leadership for clinical, administrative, and financial operations in partnership with the Board and leadership team. Guide financial planning and resource allocation in collaboration with the CFO and department managers. Ensure high-quality patient care and safety across all services. Act as the primary spokesperson for the hospital, representing SMC to community groups, media, and healthcare partners. Support recruitment, retention, and development of medical and administrative staff. Assume duties and responsibilities outlined in the hospital’s Incident Command System. Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors. Requirements Qualifications: Strong knowledge of healthcare administration, hospital operations, and regulatory requirements. Proven ability to lead in a dynamic healthcare environment. Demonstrated skills in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and community relations. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred. Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience. Minimum of 5 years of executive-level leadership in a hospital or healthcare organization preferred. Experience in a Rural Critical Access Hospital strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in operations, financial management, and strategic growth. Experience fostering collaborative relationships with physicians, clinicians, and community stakeholders.
