Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services, in partnership with the Indian Health Service (IHS), is seeking dedicated WHNPs and CNMs for a long-term contract assignment at the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility. CNMs may also provide labor and delivery management for appropriate-risk patients within scope. Contract Details / Schedule 1099 Government Contractor position Long-term contract up to 1 year with extension options 8–13 hour shifts depending on department needs Day, night, and mid shifts available Women’s health / OB-GYN experience required 2–3 years of clinical experience preferred Experience in labor & delivery, prenatal, and postpartum care required Critical Access / IHS facility setting Previous locum tenens experience preferred Active U.S. license accepted (any state or territory) What We Offer Competitive compensation Flexible scheduling options Opportunity to serve within the Indian Health Service system Mission-driven, team-oriented clinical environment Diverse and high-acuity patient population Opportunity to make a lasting impact in rural healthcare What You’ll Do Provide comprehensive women’s health care including prenatal, postpartum, and gynecologic services Conduct routine exams, screenings, and preventive care across the lifespan Manage labor and delivery care (for CNMs), including low- to moderate-risk pregnancies Diagnose and treat acute and chronic women’s health conditions Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic testing Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams Provide patient education on reproductive health, family planning, and wellness Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant EHR documentation Follow all IHS policies, safety protocols, and clinical guidelines Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives Deliver culturally competent care to diverse populations Indian Preference Policy Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services follows an Indian Preference Policy. Requirements Strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems Commitment to continuous learning and professional development Must be a U.S. citizen residing primarily in the United States Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) program or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) program Board Certified WHNP or CNM (required) Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in women’s health, OB-GYN, prenatal, postpartum, or labor & delivery required Active, unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory Active DEA registration (if prescribing within scope) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Preferred Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required for CNMs Experience with Indian Health Service (IHS) or tribal healthcare systems preferred Experience working in rural or underserved communities strongly preferred Must be able to pass a federal background/security clearance Proof of education (diploma or transcripts required)
