POSITION TITLE: Certified Anesthesia Technician
DEPARTMENT: Surgical Services
POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Anesthesia Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive support to anesthesia providers in the operating room and other clinical areas. This role encompasses preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, postoperative duties, emergency response, and general maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient patient care. The technician must possess strong technical knowledge of anesthesia machines, monitoring systems, and sterile techniques while being able to respond quickly and effectively to clinical needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree preferred. Courses in medical terminology and basic physiology preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Anesthesia Technician Certification required. BLS issued through American Heart Association preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of anesthesia equipment, procedures, and sterile techniques.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and minor maintenance of anesthesia machines and monitoring systems.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
    · Knowledge of anesthesiology equipment care, operation, and maintenance
    · Knowledge of standards for patient care and safe practice in the anesthetic environment
    · Effective interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to gain technical knowledge of equipment
    · Knowledge of medical terminology and equipment
    · Basic computer skills and ability to problem solve and prioritize
    · Ability to perform minor technical repairs
    · Good written and oral communication skills
    · Ability to function well in stressful situations
    · Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English
    EXPERIENCE: One year of direct patient contact experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse or related clinical experience required.
