Novant Health East Cooper Medical Center is seeking a full-time, dedicated Athletic Trainer to provide on-site support at Lucy Beckham High School under the guidance of an Orthopedic Surgeon/Orthopedic Sports Medicine specialist. This role involves serving as the primary athletic trainer for the high school’s student-athletes, offering comprehensive care, injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation services.
Position Summary
As a key member of the sports medicine team, the Athletic Trainer will work closely with coaches, students, and healthcare providers to ensure the safe participation of athletes in all sports. This position includes providing sideline coverage for practices and games, assisting in injury evaluation and management, and implementing rehabilitation programs to support athletes’ recovery and return-to-play decisions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sports injury management, a passion for working with high school athletes, and the ability to collaborate effectively with medical professionals and school staff.
Under the general supervision of a licensed MD, in compliance with legal aspects of patient care, the NATA Guidelines, and according to established policies and procedures, evaluates injuries and develops and administers established treatment plans for injured athletes. Responsible for the prevention and treatment of injuries through appropriate utilization of medical protocols and therapy modalities. Assists in developing and monitoring programs to ensure athletes receiving conditioning to prevent injuries and/or rehabilitation to ensure healthy recovery. Provides care for external organizations as established by contractual agreement. Establishes care plan, physical evaluation and provider referrals for continued care. Completes other assignments to include training others, reports, etc., in support of the department.
