SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our dental practice in beautiful White Rock, British Columbia 2-3 days per week. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with dentists and dental hygienists to provide high-quality oral healthcare services to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with dental procedures, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring the comfort and safety of patients throughout their visit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a recognized Dental Assistant program and registration with the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia (CDSBC) as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA).
  • Previous experience working as a dental assistant is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced dental environment.
  • Proficiency in dental software systems for scheduling, charting, and record-keeping is an asset. Familiarity with Power Practice and Tracker is an asset.
  • Current certification in CPR is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist Dentists: Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures by setting up instruments, equipment, and materials. Assist dentists during procedures by handing them instruments, suctioning, and providing other chairside support as needed.
  • Sterilize Instruments: Follow strict infection control protocols to sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and equipment. Ensure that all sterilization procedures meet regulatory requirements and maintain a clean and hygienic environment in the dental office.
  • Take X-rays: Capture and process dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist. Ensure that patients are properly positioned and protected during X-ray procedures and maintain accurate records of radiographic images.
  • Prepare Patients: Welcome patients to the dental office, escort them to the treatment area, and help them feel comfortable and relaxed during their visit. Provide information to patients about dental procedures, post-operative care instructions, and oral hygiene practices.
  • Assist with Dental Procedures: Assist with a variety of dental procedures, including fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, and extractions. Anticipate the needs of the dentist and anticipate necessary instruments and materials.
  • Educate Patients: Educate patients about proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive dental care, and the importance of regular dental check-ups. Provide oral health education materials and answer any questions or concerns that patients may have.
  • Manage Supplies: Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment, order supplies as needed, and ensure that all supplies are properly stored and organized. Assist with the maintenance and repair of dental equipment as required.
  • Document Patient Care: Record treatment information, clinical notes, and patient instructions accurately in dental records. Ensure that patient records are complete, up-to-date, and compliant with privacy regulations.
