SUMMARY

As an ELL Teacher at STEM Preparatory Academy, you will play a vital role in shaping the literacy skills of our diverse student body. This position is essential in fostering a love for reading and writing while supporting our mission of delivering high-quality education to all students.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; teaching certification preferred.
  • Experience working with children, particularly in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of literacy education principles and special education practices.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development processes and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Support fidelity of Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs), including language goal progress monitoring, and consistency of data collection across all grade levels.
  • Implement ELL accommodation implementation across all content areas.
  • Engage with a dynamic team of ELL teachers, focusing on quality service delivery models, ELL best practices, and content specific language supports.
  • Provide instructional best practices for ELL students through attending high-quality PD, facilitated to all school-based teachers and leaders.
  • Deliver Differentiated Instruction – Use research-based strategies to modify content, assessments, and classroom activities to meet students’ diverse needs.
  • Engage with a Dynamic Team of Educators – Collaborate with general education teachers, ExEd colleagues, and instructional coaches to implement best practices.
  • Provide Small-Group and One-on-One Support – Work closely with students to strengthen academic and behavioral skills based on their individual needs.
  • Facilitate Communication with Families – Build strong relationships with parents/guardians to support student learning and advocacy.
  • Administer and Support State Testing – Serve as a test administrator for state-mandated assessments (WIDA ACCESS, TNReady, etc.).
  • Foster a Motivating, Inclusive, and Structured Learning Environment – Ensure a safe and supportive classroom culture where all students thrive.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching practices.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability and high expectations within the school.
