OVERVIEW

The Surgical First Assistant plays a critical role in the operating room, providing essential support to the surgical team during procedures. This position requires a deep understanding of surgical practices, anatomy, and medical terminology. The Surgical First Assistant is responsible for ensuring patient safety and assisting in achieving optimal surgical outcomes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology related to surgery and acute care settings.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices to maintain a safe operating environment.
  • Experience or familiarity with Epic systems for electronic health records management.
  • Proficiency in monitoring vital signs and responding appropriately during surgical procedures.
  • Ability to collect data effectively while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Previous experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development in surgical practices.
