ABOUT CROWSNEST PASS SENIOR HOUSING
Crowsnest Pass Senior Housing (CPSH) is a supportive Living facility that provides subsidized continuing care accommodation to residents.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: HEALTH CARE AIDE
CPSH is currently recruiting Health Care Aides (HCA)s for our Peaks to Pines Lodge in Coleman, AB. HCAs are integral members of our health care team and are responsible for assisting our residents with their activities of daily living while keeping in mind the safety, comfort, and dignity of our residents. An ideal candidate must live in the Crowsnest Pass or must be willing to relocate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Grade 12 education required.
Must possess a valid Health Care Aide certificate
Two to three years experience in lodge or long-term care setting preferred. Working with seniors with dementia preferred.
Experience working with the Medical Assistance Program (MAP) is an asset.
Outgoing personality - Good interpersonal and organizational skills. level C, CPR certificate is an Asset.
Perform duties with minimum of supervision.
Must be able to deal effectively with crisis situations.
Must be able to communicate effectively in oral as well as written English.

Responsible for dressing, grooming, bathing, medication assistance, meal assistance, and oxygen equipment assistance to residents while still allowing them to remain as independent and active as possible.
Participate in the creation and execution of resident care plans
Responsible for observing the resident’s condition and being aware of and understanding the resident’s needs. Must show understanding of how and when to document these needs should further follow-up be required
Must be able to recognize and report any signs of abuse and provide relevant, clear and timely information to all health care team members. This could include but is not limited to; the direct manager, homecare LPN’s and RN’s, Occupational and Physio Therapists, and EMS
Recognize challenges related to changes in residents’ vision, hearing, speech, mobility and language as a result of aging and adapt practices to minimize the effects of these.
Promote a collaborative work environment and respect the Multicultural views and diversity of residents and staff members.
Effectively document incidents without representing bias, personal interpretation, or opinions.
Follow all standard precautions when dealing with infectious materials.
Deal with sick and frail individuals, there may be times when they are required to deal with emergency situations.
Perform any other task assigned by the departmental Head.
