JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Health Care Aide is a caring and compassionate member of the home care team who works under the supervision of the Care Coordinator and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the client’s needs. The Health Care Aide is responsible for observing clients, reporting and documenting these observations and care performed. The Health Care Aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a client’s care.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification as a Health Care Aide and registered in Alberta HCA Directory
  • Certified in CPR Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
  • Driver’s license in good standing with access to a reliable automobile
  • Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (completed in the last 3 months)
  • Access to a computer and cell phone Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills in English
  • Treat clients, staff and the public with courtesy, respect and present a positive public image
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of the client’s medical information
    Job Type: Casual
    Pay: From $18.50 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Provide client care as directed by the Care Coordinator.
  • Provide personal care.
  • Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Participate in client teaching according to the client’s plan of care.
  • Assist in providing a safe environment and promote quality patient care through adherence to established policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensure client’s rights are adhered to.
  • Respond rapidly and appropriately in an emergency situation.
  • Use equipment properly and in a safe manner.
