Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant: Responsibilities The Medical Assistant Certified (CMA) provides superior patient care and performs both clinical and administrative tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider. Qualifications Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Graduated from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program. Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Preferred Job Requirements: Associate’s degree. Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care
