Description Medical Assistant Responsibilities Prepares instruments, equipment, and materials for patient care and keeps exam rooms aseptic, neat, and stocked. Obtains and documents complete patient data in a timely and accurate manner. Prepares patients for exams and assists providers with exams, tests, and procedures as needed. Provides patients with instructions in preparation for specific procedures and tests when appropriate. Performs basic procedures as ordered by the provider and within the scope of practice. Proficiently uses computer applications as required for patient care. Processes prescriptions as directed by the provider. Communicates with patients about concerns, collects information, and relays this information professionally and efficiently to the provider. Performs and complies with quality control measures. Completes care team calls promptly and assists with other care teams as needed. Obtains all necessary medical records for their patients. Completes necessary FLMA/STD paperwork. Teamwork and Development Demonstrates the ability to be proactive, supportive, and collaborative. Requirements Essential Functions and Qualifications Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institute. Medical Assistant program diploma. Certification is required (CMA) (RMA) (CCMA) Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to lift 10 pounds. Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to work in an upright, standing position for extended periods. Manual dexterity. Work is performed in a medical office setting using standard medical equipment.
