Job Summary The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) performs both clinical and administrative duties in a fast-paced healthcare setting to support the delivery of high-quality patient care Responsibilities include assisting with patient preparation, vital signs, data collection, medication administration, and front-office tasks including scheduling and patient communications Essential Functions Greets and prepares patients for examination and procedures Takes and documents vital signs, medical history, and other pertinent data Assists physicians with exams, procedures, and treatments Administers injections, performs waived lab tests, and collects specimens Documents all clinical care and updates patient records accurately and timely Performs front desk duties including scheduling, registration, answering phones, and handling prescription requests Calls in prescriptions, obtains prior authorizations, and facilitates communication between patient and provider Ensures cleanliness, stocking, and organization of exam rooms, labs, and supplies Provides patient education under physician direction Maintains logs, performs sterilization of instruments, and ensures equipment is functioning properly Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Knowledge of basic medical terminology, anatomy, and infection control Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational and time management skills Customer service orientation and ability to work in a team-based environment Proficiency with EMR systems and general office equipment Ability to lift patients, push/pull equipment, and stand or walk for extended periods Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations Education High school diploma or equivalent required Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required Licenses/Certification Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NAHP, or AAH required Basic Life Support (BLS) required Experience Minimum of six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting preferred Two (2) years of physician office or hospital-based experience preferred Familiarity with specialty practice protocols preferred
