OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join a high-performing outpatient oncology rehabilitation clinic for a travel assignment. The ideal candidate will support a specialized patient population facing complex post-cancer treatment symptoms. This role demands strong clinical knowledge, administrative precision, and a compassionate approach to patient care in a structured outpatient environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification:
  • Medical Assistant Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR
  • National certification through AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, NCCT, or MMCI
  • Required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient or similar clinical setting
  • Experience in oncology or rehabilitation clinics preferred
  • Charting Experience: EPIC (preferred)

Responsibilities
  • Assist providers with exams and clinical procedures including injections and Qutenza patch application
  • Conduct patient intake, including rooming, vital signs (BP, temperature, respirations, pulse), and patient history
  • Review and follow up on lab results; support documentation of medications and allergies
  • Manage appointment scheduling, telephone triage, and prescription refill requests
  • Accurately label and process specimens; coordinate with pharmacy and lab when needed
  • Support the clinic with insurance verifications, authorization forms, and supply management
  • Educate patients on recovery programs such as cancer exercise, wellness, and survivorship initiatives
  • Use EPIC EMR to document clinical interactions and maintain updated patient records
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked and prepped with necessary supplies
  • Provide administrative support such as chart prep, documentation, and coordinating with interdisciplinary staff
  • Maintain infection control and safety standards in accordance with clinical protocols
