Job Title: Certified Coder (Coding Specialist II) – Remote
Location: Dallas, TX (100% Remote)
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (with possible extensions)
Pay Rate: $28/hour
Schedule: 40 hours/week; varied shifts based on department needs

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking experienced and certified Medical Coders (Coding Specialist II) for a fully remote contract opportunity with Facility. This role involves high-volume coding of a variety of encounters across emergency, outpatient, inpatient OB/newborn, observation, same-day surgery, and specialty clinics. Applicants must be highly skilled in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, HCC, HEDIS CAT II, and E/M coding.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certification: AAPC credentials required – CPC, CPC-H, and/or COC (Mandatory)
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of professional coding experience
  • Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding – Required
  • Risk Adjustment coding – Preferred with E/M background
  • Hospital/acute care setting experience – Strongly preferred
  • High volume workload proficiency – Required
  • Education: Graduate of an approved coding or Health Information Management (HIM) program
  • Technical Skills:
Responsibilities
  • Accurately code and abstract patient records across ED, SDS, OPC, OBS, OB/newborn, and various specialty clinics
  • Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes following CMS guidelines and Parkland policies
  • Perform charge reviews to ensure proper professional charging and billing
  • Maintain 95%+ accuracy and meet productivity standards
  • Identify and resolve documentation issues to support accurate data capture and reimbursement
  • Support internal reviews and help train other coders as needed
  • Stay current with regulatory changes and industry trends through continuing education
  • Collaborate with providers and clinical teams to improve documentation quality
  • Maintain coding credentials and participate in departmental process improvements
  • Comply with all virtual work policies and ensure all coding is performed with integrity and accuracy
