We have an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time, Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to work in Longview, Christian Health’s North Jersey’s premier assisted living residence. Responsible for assisting residents with daily care in accordance with established nursing care procedures. Liaison to nursing staff for communication of and/or routing of clinical care concerns. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health. Qualifications: Administer medication as prescribed by the health care provider in congruence with the five rights of medical action administration. Provides assistance with dressing and/or appropriate clothing selection. Maintains an awareness of resident service plans and follows through by implementing care need changes promptly. Demonstrates an understanding of Assisted Living principles including Resident choice, privacy, independence, dignity in all interactions with Resident. Supervises and demonstrates pro-active care for resident on a daily basis. Assists residents with ambulation as needed. Advises nurse of concerns. Ensures that all care is provided in privacy and in a sensitive and a respectful manner. Provides assistance with showering and sponge bathing. Goes out of way to make conversation with residents and to promote sense of home/community. Provides assistance with oral hygiene, shaving, hair care and make up. Assists with meal service, maintaining awareness of residents special diets/needs and assists as needed with dining. Provides assistance with toileting assuring resident is comfortable and dry. Is aware/responsive to residents with special needs. Demonstrates knowledge/use of standard precautions. Makes scheduled beds. Returns clean personal laundry to residents, takes care of residents' laundry and linen needs when necessary or when scheduled. Answers call bells promptly and courteously. Demonstrates understanding of how to approach, interact and respond to memory impaired resident. Demonstrates ability to deal positively with cognitively impaired resident. Transports residents within facility as needed. Reports change in Resident status, behaviors and other concerns promptly to nurse. Performs minor housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain orderly/neat appearance of the facility. Documents accurately according to facility policy. Notifies nurse on duty when any medication is not given as ordered. Receives/transfers oral and written reports at change of shift. Assists Activity Staff with daily activities (helps transport and/or encourages attendance, active assist when assigned.) Education: High school diploma or equivalent, preferred. Certification: Must be a Certified Medication Aide in the State of New Jersey. Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA). Experience: Experience not required.
