OVERVIEW:

Julia’s Place Music Therapy is seeking an experienced, flexible and motivated certified music therapist to join our clinical team. Our programs take place at our fully-stocked clinic located at the north end of Brampton, online, and/or within the GTA community. Our clients are diverse in culture and ability, and our therapists have the training, sensitivity, and experience to meet their wide-ranging needs. Our clinic is designed to provide clients with a fun and safe place to learn and grow. When visiting our clinic, all clients are provided access to a sensory room, sensory gardens, an outdoor park, swings, and an enclosed area with farm animals. We have unique programs in the community, including mental services, which involves active collaboration with registered social workers.
The successful candidate will enjoy working independently and within a team environment, and will value personal and professional growth. The ideal candidate is warm, approachable, and reliable. They must demonstrate an interest in working with children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and diagnosis. This role includes involvement in music therapy sessions, specialized music programs, and mental health services. The music therapist must display professionalism and follow the CAMT Code of Ethics at all times. It is expected that the music therapist prepares for all of their sessions, keeps records of all sessions, and evaluates programs as needed. Music therapists are expected to relate to their clients in a positive manner, recognizing and utilizing the unique abilities of each individual.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Music Therapy
  • CAMT member in good standing with MTA status (will consider applicants who are in the process of completing the CBMT exam)
  • A minimum of 1 year of active clinical work experience (preferred)
  • Valid Neurologic Music Therapy training (optional)
  • Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking and comprehension in the English

Language

  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of Google Drive systems (docs, sheets) and e-mail systems.
  • Strong musical skills
  • Comfortable presenting on and explaining music therapy to the public

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Valid CPR and Standard First Aid (C) certificate
Responsibilities

Duties and responsibility include:

  • Maintain timely communication with Julia’s Place staff and clients
  • Answer emails and phone calls as needed
  • Participate in weekly team meetings
  • Participate in supervision as needed
  • Provide music therapy sessions, assessments and other music programs.
  • Conduct music therapy sessions as scheduled
  • Maintain professional attire at all times
  • Complete documentation
  • This includes: session agendas, session notes, assessment reports and update reports
  • Regular session notes must be completed the same day that sessions take place
  • Ratio of client contact time to documentation time is expected to be 3:1.
  • Complete other administration tasks as required.
