POSITION OVERVIEW

Paradigm Professional Health Services, Inc., a healthcare staffing firm, is seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) for a federal contract with the Indian Health Service at the Gallup Indian Medical Center. This is a hard-to-fill, high-demand location offering competitive pay plus weekly travel and lodging allowance for qualified independent contractors.
You will provide full-scope midwifery care to a diverse patient population, working in a collaborative OB/GYN team environment while maintaining full control of your practice as an independent contractor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited nurse-midwifery program.
  • Current, unrestricted RN and CNM licenses (any U.S. State or Territory).
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP.
  • Minimum 1 year of full-scope midwifery experience.
  • Ability to pass federal background check, credentialing, and comply with Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintain professional liability insurance ($1M per occurrence / $3M aggregate).
  • Comply with HIPAA and federal security standards.
  • REAL ID–compliant credential for facility access.
  • Complete required IHS onboarding training within 30 days of start.

Responsibilities
  • Provide antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecologic, family planning, and newborn care.
  • Conduct patient evaluations, diagnoses, and manage OB/GYN conditions per IHS protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff for coordinated care.
  • Participate in on-call coverage, responding within 30 minutes when on standby.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Provide culturally competent, patient-centered education and counseling.
