Description

As a rapidly-growing company, we are seeking a Full-Time Certified Nurse Midwife to join Flourish Wellness + Birth Co. in Sioux Falls, SD. Flourish is a functional wellness clinic and birth center and seeks to actively practice “root cause medicine”, empower and educate their clients and cultivate a community of health, wellness, and belonging.
The ideal candidate is a CNM with at least one year of experience who is passionate about physiologic birth and seeks to use their skills and gifts in an out of hospital setting. Out of hospital birth experience is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the birth center model of care and eligibility criteria for clients throughout antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
  • Performs initial examinations, monitors pregnancy progression, orders and interprets tests as appropriate, and reports complications requiring higher-level care.
  • Provides patient education on pregnancy, delivery, postpartum care, breastfeeding, family planning, and newborn care.
  • Prepares patients and partners for delivery, including instruction in exercises, breathing, and relaxation techniques.
  • Attends and supports clients during labor, monitors fetal condition, administers medications, and consults or transfers care when medically indicated.
  • Delivers infants and assesses the health of both mother and newborn, providing immediate postpartum care.
  • Provides postpartum visits to assess recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn health.
  • Performs gynecologic services, including well-woman exams and contraceptive counseling.
  • Participates in quality assurance, peer review, and continuing education to maintain clinical skills and licensure.
  • Maintains accurate and timely medical records in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Participates in fire, safety, disaster, and infection control training and follows established protocols.
  • Engages in community education and outreach as appropriate to promote midwifery services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-stress situations, especially during labor and delivery.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Commitment to respectful care for individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs.
  • Proficiency in maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA regulations.
  • Physical ability to assist during labor and deliveries, including standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate necessary clinical and office equipment.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing.
  • Certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
  • Active RN and APRN licenses in the State of South Dakota (or pending).
  • Meets continuing competency criteria of South Dakota and AMCB.
  • Current NRP and BLS certifications (or pending).
  • At least one year of experience as a CNM; community or out-of-hospital birth experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sufficient physical strength to assist during labor and deliveries.
  • May be required to stand, bend, or reach for extended periods.
  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to observe and communicate with patients.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, as determined on a case-by-case basis.
