Under the direction of the nurse, performs basic patient care related tasks that contributes to the maintenance of a safe and comfortable patient environment that is conducive to healing. Qualifications EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Nursing Assistant course within one year.   CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLS certification required. Specialty certifications as required by each unit.   SKILLS: Must be able to pass skills competency checklist as required by each unit. Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently.   EXPERIENCE: Six months in a healthcare related field preferred.   NATURE OF SUPERVISION: -Responsible to: Director/Manager, Nursing Unit   ENVIRONMENT: - Bloodborne pathogens - B Works irregular hours. Multiple simultaneous activities around patient care. Exposure to infectious diseases and x-rays. Subject to varying unpredictable situations.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle emergency/crisis situations, prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics. Frequently lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients or equipment. Hearing and visual acuity within normal limits. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of a nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant performs basic patient care tasks to maintain a safe and comfortable healing environment. This includes contributing to patient well-being through direct assistance and adherence to unit protocols.
