Description Position Status: PRN - Extended Stay (Overnight) Supervisor: Perioperative Services Manager What You’ll Do: The CNA will work collaboratively with an RN and other staff members to provide safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, educative, individualized and goal-directed nursing care to patients and their families in the surgery center. Clinical Functions: Stock medical materials and supplies required. Assist nurse in intake procedures. Assist the patients in toileting needs, dressing, and transports safely using a wheelchair. Obtains patients’ condition and vital signs and reports changes to the RN Answers patients’ call signals. Provide patients’ with juice, soft drink and/or crackers while in PACU. At the time of discharge, transports patients via wheelchair to vehicle. Clean and change linens on stretchers. Prepare clinical charts prior to the patient’s surgery. Ensure that ancillary and lab reports, etc. are included in the patient chart. Accurately scans charts into EMR system to assist Medical Records. Answers and documents patient phone calls to assist in Pre-Admit. Ensures regulatory compliance and reports any quality issues as they arise. Interacts with various department representatives within the facility. Requirements What You’ll Need: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have current CNA certification. BLS Certification required Prior experience in the medical field as a CNA preferred. Clinical knowledge in a medical specialization and knowledge of patient care. Ability to respond with flexibility to changing workload. Utilize department supplies in a cost-efficient manner and perform effectively as a team member. Other duties as assigned as necessary and may vary at times, as needed, by the Director of Nursing or appropriate nursing staff. Requires prolonged standing, stretching, and bending and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. may be required. Fast-paced work environment.
