Description Job Summary To assist patients with activities of daily living. Variable hours between 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM with rotating weekends. Duties and Responsibilities Adapt nursing care to the home environment. Perform as a health team member in the department. Report any changes to the assigned supervisor. Provide for personal and patient safety. Maintain 12 hours of in-service yearly. Must attend meetings as required. Performs the following procedures: Ambulation-cane, walker, gait belt Assist patients with bowel/bladder retraining Bathing (tub, shower, sponge, bed bath) Bed making/linen change Care of prosthetic devices including hearing aides Catheter care- check tubing, pericare attach leg bag/BSU Collect specimen- urine, stool, sputum Colostomy care- change bag, skin care CPR Enemas Isolation precautions Personal care- bathing, dressing/undressing, hair care, oral hygiene, nail care, pericare, skin care, shaving, grooming Positioning and comfort measures Post mortem care Range of motion Restorative care functions after physical therapy instruction Transfer- chair/wheelchair, standing frame Vital signs- temperature, blood pressure, respirations May assist with medications placed in a mediset container by a licensed nurse if medication assistance certification is complete Housekeeping Meal preparation Shopping and errands Documentation Other duties may be assigned Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Requirements Minimum Requirements Current CNA certification in the state of Idaho Must possess a valid Idaho Driver’s License, maintain and show proof of car insurance Must possess a current CPR card Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Basic computer knowledge Preferred Requirements Additional languages preferred Skills/Competencies Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Basic computer knowledge. Self-disciplined and self-motivated. Strong written and verbal skills. Understanding of medical concepts while performing nursing duties. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with patients (and their families), coworkers, hospital staff and physician. Physical Requirements Perceive the nature of sounds by the ear, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes, extend arms and hands in any direction, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands, pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers, perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and stoop, kneel crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors. Rare lifting of greater than 100 pounds.
