Job Details Job Location: Health Center - Topeka, KS 66611 Position Type: Full Time Job Shift: Day Position Purpose Assists in the provision of screens, collection of data and direct treatment to a general rehab caseload and under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Participates in the clinical team process. Provides teaching and training to caregiver staff. Participates in clinical program development. Exhibits courtesy, compassion and respect to patients, residents, families, caregivers, visitors, physicians, administrators and co-workers. Documents effectively so that claims are supported and paid. Principal Accountabilities and Essential Duties of the Job Under a physician’s order, provides direct treatment to patients/residents as directed by, and according to the plan of care outlined by the supervising Occupational Therapist where allowed by law. Documents patient/resident progress toward meeting established goals as stated in the treatment plan outlined by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Conducts resident screens (without interpretation) as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Participates in weekly rehabilitation meetings; weekly rounds with the nursing department and interdisciplinary care plan meetings as requested. Provides training to patients, residents, caregivers and families according to the plan of care outlined by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Completes documentation of direct treatment provided within established time frames. Prepares treatment materials and assists with other clerical duties as needed. Participates in quality improvement activities. Supervises the restorative dining program and makes recommendations for admission and/or discharge from the program. Provides inservice training to new employees on proper body mechanics, lifting, transfers, and positioning. Qualifications License/Certification: COTA (Required)
Responsibilities
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides direct treatment to patients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and documents their progress. They also participate in clinical meetings and provide training to caregivers and families.
