The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is responsible for carrying out treatment plans developed by an Occupational Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living training, and mobility assistance. The COTA will provide treatment by adhering to specific goals developed by the OT. The COTA participates as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, manages resources to meet the needs of the resident balancing outcomes to provide effective and efficient treatment. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health. Competencies: Carry out the treatment plan designed by the Occupational Therapists. Ensures clinical documents is appropriately supervised and co-signed by a licensed OT. Teach patients how to perform exercises, use adaptive equipment, and develop strategies to improve their functional abilities. Record and report on patient’s progress, limitations, and responses to therapy to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Instruct patients and their families on how to use assistive devices, perform exercises, and make necessary lifestyle and home modifications. Collaborates with Occupational Therapist, other therapists, doctors, and families to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care. Assists with preparing the materials and equipment needed for therapy sessions. Performs other duties as required. Schedule: Full time, 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm Monday - Friday. Education: Completion of an accredited program for Occupational Therapy Assistants.
